Naval Hill Planetarium offers special family programs

during the June-July holiday.

The first digital planetarium in sub-Saharan Africa – located on Naval Hill, right here in Bloemfontein-- was inaugurated on 1 November 2013!

With a view to the June- July holiday six special family programs will be presented on Friday evenings on 27 June, 4 July and 11 July. The programmes include the following shows: Nanocam and Fragile Planet. More details on these shows and the shows for the rest of July follow below. All pre-recorded shows are in English but the live presentations and tour of the universe are either in Afrikaans or English as indicated.

Nanocam (You shrink to the size of an insect and fly you through the eye of a needle.)

Nanocam is a microscopic joyride into the five kingdoms of living things. With the latest 3D animation technology it offers a unique, motivating, didactic and funny approach to living things that has never been seen like this before.

The perfect show to celebrate United Nations Decade on Biodiversity, stimulate interest into science and evoke an investigative spirit among young people.

Nanocam is an invitation to think about what life is.

Fragile Planet (Travel 120 million light years to rediscover home).

Fragile Planet gives audiences an astronaut’s view of Earth, highlighting Earth’s unique regions. The journey then continues to the Moon, Mars, and beyond the

Milky Way to search for habitats that might host extraterrestrial life.
